Blackbutt Decking
Botanical name: Eucalyptus pilularis. A commonly used Australian
hardwood for decking has been blackbutt, its high use for flooring
has further increased its popularity. Blackbutt has a durability
class 1 (above ground), is naturally resistant to termites and
bushfire. Stability of blackbutt decking is high due to
its even texture and usually straight grain.
Blackbutt decking has the tendency to surface check, especially installations exposed to extreme sunlight, thus requiring more maintenance than some other types of decking.
Blackbutt Decking Colour
Probably the lightest colour decking available, from cream to pale brown, sometimes with a slight tinge of pink. Weathered blackbutt decking will appear grey.
